Middle age and increasing number of diseases

healthy living and middle ageResearch shows the average life expectancy of an American is 78 years. In 1980, the life expectancy was 74 years and this can be considered as a significant rise in figures. Even though numbers show that we are living better, it cannot be compared with the reality. Fatal diseases like diabetes and heart diseases increase on a daily basis and many young people die because of these diseases. Even though we live more years in our life, we live those extra years with different types of diseases. Therefore it cannot be considered as a good health condition.

The Internal Medicine magazine published a notable article last week and it said that making small changes in your life could assist the people to change these facts. If you try to become fit during the middle ages, you will get the opportunity to stay away from these diseases that will come along with aging. It has been proven from the statistical trials as well.

A group of researchers from the University of Texas South Western Medical Center and The Cooper institute in Dallas got together to perform this trial. They collected medical records from 18,670 middle-aged men and women with an average age of 49 years for their research. All of them were healthy at the beginning and they were subjected to a variety of exercises. They included a majority of aerobic exercises. After the exercises, the sample population was divided into five fitness categories based on their fitness level.

The results of the research showed that people who were in the least fit category were subjected to eight serious diseases at the latter part of their life. People who were in the fittest category did not have to experience any diseases like this. That’s why people should focus more on their healthy habits during their middle age. It will assist the people to stay away from trouble and live a hassle free life throughout the retirement period. The fittest people got the chance to live well during their older years.

Even though it was a hard thing for the researches to analyze the results, they gave a clear idea about the objective of the research. Aerobic fitness exercises have a relationship with the genetics as well. But they overcame the fitness during the middle age. Therefore professionals in the industry recommend that it is a must to go through exercises during the mid-age of your life and keep yourself fit in order to stay away from diseases at the end of your life.
